While the initial reactions have been far from the euphoric bliss explosion many were expecting from the launch of The Old Republic, I for one certainly would not have expected this from Bioware. It seems that according to recent reports from players, the ability to unsubscribe from the game has 'mysteriously' disappeared from the game's website.
While Bioware continues to insist the issue is a result of player's browsers and not their site it is interesting that any post placed on their official forums regarding a suitable work-around have been quickly locked and or deleted. This suspicious behavior is only compounded when it is noted that this problem arrose only a day before the initial free month of play is to end and players would have to finally decide whether they were going to continue as a paying subscriber or move on.
If this is not resolved today many players will be charged for their second month and Bioware would be given an extension to work out some of the issues that have been troubling release as most players would simply figure, 'well, I am payed up for another month... might as well stick around.' While no one can know for certain if this 'conventient' issue was intentional or not, seeing as other game developers have tried this ploy in the past and the evidence certainly does not stack in Bioware's favor, the look on the jury's face does not bode well.
